2023 sees the first edition in The Dalmore Cask Curation Series – a four year series of annual limited releases, featuring sets of three, aged whiskies. Each 150-set edition will explore how different casks can influence the maturation of our spirit under the careful curation of our master whisky makers, with the first release highlighting The Dalmore’s long-standing partnership with González Byass Sherry.
The Dalmore’s relationship with Sherry maker González Byass in Spain dates back over a century. For The Cask Curation Series: The Sherry Edition, Master Whisky Makers, Gregg Glass and Richard Paterson, OBE hand-selected three of the Dalmore’s finest whiskies aged in rare casks from the esteemed Sherry bodega, that had previously been used to mature wines in the Sherry solera system. The set includes: a 26 Year Old Dalmore single malt finished in a 2002 Vintage Sherry cask, a 28 Year Old finished in a 30 year old Matusalem cask, and a 43 Year Old finished in an 30 year old Apostoles cask. The long voyages of the casks served as inspiration for the packaging design of The Dalmore Cask Curation Series. Evoking the spirit of travel, the presentation box is hand-crafted in Florence by Italian luggage makers AB Florence. The box acts as both carry case and display case for each trio of bottles, and each detail has been carefully considered, from the Sherry-red Saffiano leather cover to the decoration and chrome fittings.
The trio of whiskies in this set are all non-chill filtered, with natural colour and bottled at cask strength.
